URTP is a non governmental, autonomous and apolitical professional association of most urban Public Transport operators from all over Romania. It is based in Bucharest in March 1990, developing nonprofit activities. Since 2005 it was granted the statutes of public utility, as governmental recognition, according to the Gov. Dec. 1139/29.09.2005. URTP mission is to achieve the unity of action for all national decision makers in order to assure PT services meeting with both travelers demands and European standards & requirements of quality and efficiency of PT system.
URTP main aim is to protect and support professional, economic and social interests of our members, both PT operators and national industry in urban PT sector. The current tools in this direction are:
  • dissemination of every national and European information, R&D projects or events on PT issues, both by organizing conferences, professional debates, workshops, training courses, and by editing technical articles within its own specialized publications,
  • encouraging training courses participation of both its members and local authorities specialists, in order to improve the administrative, technical and managerial skills of their staff,
  • stimulating and accelerating the process of adapting the European legislation and standards to the specific conditions of our region, by assisting governmental authorities in this direction.
Promoting sustainable urban transport plans in Romania, following good European practices and experts advice, having in view the socio-economic impacts of PT services on passengers mobility.


Role in the project:
Contributions in all Deliverables, regarding the state of the art in Romania, feedback for the overview of methodology and recommendations
Sharing its previous experience and expertise on ENERQI topic
Assisting STP Alba Iulia demonstrator in recruiting and monitoring its observers, in implementations as well
Large dissemination of ENERQI findings in Romania, inviting potential followers to involve
Participation in different tasks of all WP
